GSTAKIS
Sacred technique, modern vision. A master of the 2,000-year-old tradition of Byzantine iconography — creating bold, symbolic works that turn ideas into visual scripture.

From the
monastery
to the world.
GSTAKIS began his professional artistic journey at the age of 19, when he moved to the island of Rhodes and lived in the Monastery of St. Nicholas. There, under the guidance of monks, he studied the sacred techniques of Byzantine iconography — a tradition preserved for over 2,000 years. After two years of rigorous training and disciplined living, he was ordained as an Iconographer, following in the footsteps of his early inspirations, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.
Beyond mastering technique, the monastery instilled in him a deep respect for craftsmanship, discipline, and artistic integrity. Most importantly, he learned the power of storytelling through art — transforming ideas into visual narratives layered with symbolism and allegory. His work is bold, expressive, and emotionally resonant, bringing a distinctive presence to collectors and art enthusiasts around the world.
Today, GSTAKIS continues to travel doing live painting performances and exhibiting his work while supporting charitable initiatives and community outreach through art. His work has been published and featured in Miami Art Basel Week for 15 consecutive years.
